The conversation held today between Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović and representatives from the Union of Associations of NOR Fighters and Anti-Fascists of Montenegro underscored the significance of safeguarding historical heritage and honoring the memories of those who fought for freedom. Present were Milojica Dakić, Vice President, Stevan Radunović, Vice President, Dragan Mitov Đurović, Secretary General, and Borivoj Banović, President of UBNOR Podgorica.

The veterans’ organizations expressed that their relationship with the Capital has been positive, yet they anticipate receiving support from local authorities for commemorating significant dates such as July 13. According to a statement from the Capital, this year they intend to organize a central celebration marking the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism in Podgorica and they look forward to the backing of local government.

The Mayor highlighted the crucial nature of collaborating with veterans’ organizations and assured them that the Capital City would assist their initiatives to preserve the tradition, history, and libertarian spirit of our city and state.

Mujović, as noted in the announcement from the Capital, conveyed his respect for the foundational values and the dedicated work of SUBNOR and UBNOR over the years, adding that the Capital will always regard them as partners and friends.

It was agreed among the participants that in the upcoming period, they would enhance communication regarding the discussed topics to collectively improve the organization of important events and commemorations of dates that celebrate anti-fascism, as stated in the announcement.
