The most decorated karate athlete is currently in Bar, where over 100 karatekas from Montenegro and the surrounding area are participating in training sessions at SC “Topolica” led by Rafael Agajev. This outstanding Azerbaijani is visiting the Bar karate club, and after conducting two training sessions yesterday, Agajev is confident in his observations:

“During the very first session, I was able to identify and assess the potential of the young karate athletes here, and we will dedicate our time and energy to ensuring they learn and improve. I have been practicing karate for 33 years and I continue to learn every day. I have developed a training program for both seniors and juniors that everyone can participate in. I owe this opportunity to my long-time friend Almir Cecunjanin. I have a great affection for Montenegro and I can assure you this won’t be my last visit,” stated Agajev.

Two training sessions were held yesterday and two more are scheduled for today, with the first one starting at 10 am and the last one at 6 pm.

“I am thrilled that we found the resources to host this champion and that in these two days we have the chance to learn karate as it is practiced globally, following the top training program. This is particularly beneficial for our future champions and competitors, as they will acquire new techniques in karate that they can utilize in upcoming competitions. Each of our 90-minute sessions covers tactics, and preparation for both attack and defense, so we addressed all necessary aspects. The initial sessions have met our expectations, and I can see that all participants are pleased,” remarked Almir Cecunjanin, the coach of KK Bar.

Agajev, an eleven-time European champion with five gold medals from world championships and a silver medal from the Tokyo Olympics, is visiting Montenegro for the second time. His first seminar in Tivat was attended by the best Montenegrin acrobat of all time, Nenad Dulović, who is the current world and European vice-champion.

“Five years ago, I had the chance to train with Agajev in Tivat, and I’m delighted to see him here again so we can learn much from him. There’s always something new to learn from him, and he is always willing to answer any questions. This is especially crucial as I prepare for the upcoming European Championship, the World Games, and the World Championship, and I’m likely to compete in at least one Premier League event, which gathers the top 32 athletes worldwide from each category,” Dulović emphasized, noting he has already secured his spot at the major events without needing to gather points through far-reaching competitions endorsed by the WKF.
