Completion of Generator Works at HPP Perućica

The Electric Power Company (EPCG) has announced the successful completion of works on the A6 unit at the Perućica hydroelectric power plant (HPP), stating that this upgrade greatly enhances the efficiency and long-term sustainability of the facility.

The company further indicated that the practice of conducting field collegiums had continued, with this particular session led by executive director Ivan Bulatović taking place at the hydroelectric power plant.

This visit, as noted by EPCG, served as a valuable opportunity to verify the operational readiness of the facility and to discuss plans for future modernization.

“During this visit, the EPCG management and technical teams inspected the plant and confirmed that the work on the A6 generator has been fully completed and that it is now operational,” the statement read.

EPCG emphasized that this refurbishment plays a crucial role in boosting the efficiency and sustainability of the hydroelectric power plant.

“As part of our development strategy, EPCG is advancing with the modernization efforts; similar upgrades are slated for the A7 unit, while we are currently in the tendering process for a contractor to install a brand-new A8 unit. This addition will enhance the total output of the HPP and further bolster Montenegro’s energy capacity,” the statement outlined.

Bulatović highlighted the significance of these initiatives at the nation’s oldest large power facility.

“The Perućica HPP is a cornerstone of our hydropower network, and the successful completion of work on the A6 unit exemplifies the dedication and expertise of our team,” Bulatović remarked.

He reiterated the commitment to modernization and mentioned that work on the A7 generator will commence soon.

“We are preparing for the installation of a completely new A8 generator, which, alongside the water transfer project from Zeta and the construction of the Krupac-Slano tunnel, will significantly elevate the production capacity of the plant,” Bulatović explained.

According to him, these strategic investments enhance Montenegro’s energy stability and promote sustainable development for EPCG.

“EPCG is dedicated to expanding its capabilities, with a primary focus on modernizing and ensuring the reliability of its production facilities. The HPP Perućica remains one of the essential pillars of the Montenegrin power system,” the statement concluded.
