The Party of Freedom and Justice of Serbia (SSP) stated that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has “crossed a red line” by declaring his intent to soon invite all of Serbia to Belgrade, along with his remark that “after an unsuccessful color revolution, a successful counter-revolution always follows.” Consequently, the party has urged the prosecutor’s office to take action.

“Today, Aleksandar Vučić has crossed a threshold by signaling retaliation against all individuals who think freely in Serbia. The dictator is poised to initiate a counter-revolution. Vučić’s regime is set to lead Serbia into an era characterized by severe repression, intimidation, and political persecution. This serves as a crucial wake-up call – not solely for all free-thinking citizens of Serbia but also for the international community,” asserts the SSP statement.

The party has called for immediate action from the prosecution in light of Vučić’s “announcement of retaliation against his own citizens,” emphasizing that he “must be held accountable for every consequence arising from his threats,” according to reports from Nova.rs.

“The declaration of an organized counter-rally in Belgrade further indicates that the government is intentionally looking to incite dangerous tensions and conflicts among the populace. Anyone who takes part in this—who consents to engage in violence and intimidation—will be responsible for the impending consequences. The SSP urges all free individuals to unite and stand against this madness. Serbia is not, and will not become, a private state or dictatorship,” the statement further elaborated.

Vučić announced today that he plans to “invite all of Serbia to Belgrade” to demonstrate that Serbia “is not a handful of oats.”

“We will soon extend an invitation to all of you in Belgrade. We will invite everyone from Serbia to show that Serbia is not something that can be easily consumed,” Vučić declared at a rally hosted at the “Bobana Momčilović Veličković” Sports Center in Bor, concluding his speech with the words, “See you soon.”

Students who have been protesting and blocking their faculties since late November last year, following demonstrations in Novi Sad, Niš, and Kragujevac, have announced another protest planned for March 15th in Belgrade as well.
