The ninth consecutive victory in the AdmiralBet ABA League came with dominant play from the first to the 40th minute.

The basketball players of Budućnost Voli led 60:41 after the first half, did not change their rhythm until the end and defeated Igokea 111:77 in the 18th round of the AdmiralBet ABA League.

“That’s exactly what I want – to keep our concentration until the end, it doesn’t matter whether we score a goal or not, but to respect our opponent until the end. If we relax and play differently – that’s not fair, nor good for the team,” said Andrej Žakelj at the press conference.

He emphasized that the approach was the right one.

“And that’s the most important thing. Energy, confidence and approach – that’s a plus from this game and that’s what we need to work on in the next matches,” added the Slovenian expert.

The match in “Morača” was a monologue for Budućnost.

“We controlled the match, we had some bad periods, but overall it was a good game – I would like to congratulate the boys, but we have to move on now, because we know what awaits us in two days – we have to go into the Eurocup against Juventud focused and with great energy.”

The “Blue and Whites” are on a great streak – nine consecutive wins in the ABA League and only one loss in their last 12 games.

“This atmosphere, confidence and team spirit must give us courage for the next game. I don’t want us to get too carried away after these games, I want us to come down to earth, calm down and concentrate,” Žakelj is clear.

The coach of the “blue and whites” did an excellent job of distributing roles among his players.

“Sometimes during the season, roles crystallize more than initially thought. Everyone has their own ego and character, and it takes time for everything to settle down. Now they know exactly what I expect from them and what they have to do. It’s important to me that we look good as a team, because individuals are good if the team is good.”

A new night this season, another superb performance by McKinley Wright.

“He’s more experienced now. Last season was his first in Europe, which isn’t easy for rookies, but this season he has a little more confidence and freedom in his game, which suits him. He’s one of the players who gives what we expected. I don’t know how much he surprised us, because he’s a good player, but it took him time. With good training and preparation, which he has every time, he’ll continue like that, but there will be downfalls. The important thing is that we win and that we look good as a team.”

In the final, Đorđije Jovanović fell awkwardly while attempting to dunk.

“We’ll see when everything cools down, but as far as I know him, he’ll train and play right away,” Žakelj concluded.
