The Primorje water polo team faced a defeat in Athens tonight, falling to Olympiakos with a score of 20:19 in the first round of Group D in the Champions League, after a lackluster performance throughout the match.

The match concluded in a 12:12 tie at the end of regular play.

Primorac came close to achieving an upset, showing remarkable resilience and nearly securing a win during regular time.

However, in the penalty shootout, the home team displayed greater luck and focus.

Primorac had the opportunity to clinch victory in the sixth round when Konstantinos Genidunijas struck the crossbar, and Nika Šušijašvili failed to capitalize on the ensuing chance.

With the score at 20:19, Đorđe Stanojević’s attempt was thwarted by Panjajotis Corcatos, who secured two points for his team.

Genidunijas was the standout performer for the winning side, scoring four goals.

For Primorac, the multiple scorers included Savo Ćetković, Dušan Matković, Šušijašvili, and Stanojević.

Primorac is set to host Savona in the next round on October 16.
