They demand that “Plantaže” stop the sale of land and the law on the return of the plot

They Call for “Plantaže” to Cease Land Sales and Address Land Return Legislation

A group of citizens organized a one-hour demonstration in front of the parliament building, aiming to reclaim 7.65 thousand square meters of land from the state-owned company “Plantaže”.

Slavko Stojanović, who claims to be one of the rightful owners of the disputed land, informed “Vijesti” that the protest took place from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. He stated that they plan to continue protesting as they demand a halt to further land sales and the enactment of a law to address their property restitution claims.

“Our goal is to stop the sale and to have similar legislation passed for us as it was for Valdanos Bay in Ulcinj—either returning the land or providing compensation. We have also communicated with the Ombudsman and are preparing to submit restitution requests,” Stojanović noted, mentioning that discussions around this matter have been ongoing since the early 2000s.

The group asserts that a state-owned entity registered their land in Gornja Gorica and subsequently sold it. The company “Plantaže” auctioned off the plot at the end of November last year, selling the total area of 10.62 thousand square meters for a minimum price of 1,077,500 euros.

The citizens maintain that they are the legitimate owners of the land and argue that it should not have been sold. They emphasize that the land has numerous owners, was nationalized by the state, and returned in 1994, only to be registered to the state company in 2003.

The state-owned “Plantaže” previously stated that the land in question is inactive, incurs additional real estate tax costs, and does not align with the company’s strategic objectives. They claimed that there are no registered encumbrances or restrictions on the property and dismissed the citizens’ assertions of ownership as unfounded.
