Authorities in Brčko, Bosnia and Herzegovina discovered 31 children in a residential property, according to reports from Klix.ba.

These children were in possession of Croatian passports, leading to the arrest of three individuals who are suspected of various offenses, including human trafficking.

According to the Brčko District Police, the operation was conducted under the oversight of the Brčko District Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, in conjunction with the Social Welfare Sub-Department and the Red Cross. The children were located and transferred to a secure location.

“So far, three individuals have been apprehended on reasonable suspicion of committing offenses related to human trafficking, child trafficking, and neglect or abuse of a child. The investigation into this incident continues. Given the legal obligations concerning criminal proceedings against individuals accused of offenses against children and minors, we emphasize the necessity for careful handling of this case to prevent any potential harm and to safeguard the welfare of the children involved,” stated the Brčko police.

As confirmed to Klix.ba, the authorities found 31 children in a house located in the Brčko region, with some being less than one year old.

Sources revealed that these children were identified with Croatian passports and were under the supervision of a woman, presumably an Italian citizen. Additionally, a BiH citizen and his son were also taken into custody alongside her.

The motives of the criminal organization concerning these children are currently under investigation.
