“Primorac Lacks Defense in Final Quarter as Savona Scores 18 Goals in Kotor”

In the second round of the Champions League, water polo players from Primorje faced defeat once again, this time against Savona, who proved to be too strong in Kotor with a final score of 18:12 (4:4, 6:4, 3:3, 5:1). This result was in contrast to their earlier match with Olympiakos.

Primorac demonstrated a period of strong play in Kotor after a 14-year absence from the elite league, showcasing impressive actions and attractive goals, even winning over the player more than 18 times. However, a lapse in performance toward the end of the half, coupled with a 3:0 scoring run by the guests, allowed Savona to secure a two-goal lead for the first time in the match.

Kotor’s defense was lacking, and goalkeeper Franćesko Masaro struggled, managing only three saves by halftime (13-3). In contrast to the poor execution in the first quarter, both teams capitalized in the second quarter.

The turning point came at the start of the final quarter when Primorac, with a player disadvantage, failed to find the net, but Pačalijev managed to score, pushing the lead to three goals (14:11). A time-out did little to rally the team, as the visitors continued to score effortlessly through Guidi and Fiolgio.

Within the Primorje team, Niko Šušiašvili, Dušan Matković, and captain Draško Brguljan each scored two goals, while Luka Murišić, Marko Mršić, Srđan Janović, Nemanja Vico, Nikola Brkić, and Petar Ćetković each added one goal.

Following halftime, Masar was replaced by teenager Dragoljub Ćetković, who managed to save six out of 14 shots on goal.

For the Savona team, Petro Filjoli netted three goals from four attempts, while Davide Ochioni, Balaš Erdelji, and Luka Damonte each contributed with three goals. The goalkeeper from Nicosia made 10 saves from 22 shots faced.

Primorac remained without points due to their previous penalty shootout loss, while Savona celebrated its first victory after losing to Sabadell in the opening round.
