A Sour Feeling, Yet Pride in Our Accomplishments
Last night, Napoli faced Lazio away from home, ending the match in a 2-2 draw—marking their third successive draw in Serie A this season.
Napoli fell behind early with Isaksen scoring in the sixth minute. Although Raspadori managed to equalize, an unfortunate own goal by Marušić restored Lazio’s lead. Ultimately, Dia secured a point for the visitors with his goal.
“It’s disappointing, especially since we’ve dropped four points in our last two away matches at the ‘Olympique’ (we also drew against Roma). On both occasions, we conceded late goals. We possess quality and have shown that we are hard to beat, but these results certainly leave a bitter taste,” commented Napoli coach Antonio Conte post-match.
Due to injuries affecting several players, Conte opted for a 3-5-2 formation instead of the usual 4-3-3.
“We need to play to the strengths of our players. We had a strategy in place, and the team executed it well; I couldn’t have asked for more,” Conte stated.
It’s been three years since Napoli last defeated Lazio.
“We should take pride in our efforts and continue to fight for this jersey, as I do in every match. A result like this at the ‘Olympique’ should be viewed as a positive. We must remember where we started,” Conte declared.
If Inter outperforms Juventus tonight, Napoli will lose their top spot in the table.
“We’re doing everything we can. We’re aware of the hard work it took to reach the top of the table. I’m filled with pride when I reflect on our achievements,” Conte concluded.
