The Montenegrin Tenants’ Association is set to convene today with officials from the Capital City Property Directorate. The primary goal of this meeting, as stated, is to seek answers to pressing queries regarding social housing and the situation facing tenant families.

During the meeting, they will pose three central questions, including whether it is permissible to access the list of beneficiaries for social housing, in line with the transparency and data protection laws.

The Tenants’ Association representatives are also keen to explore the potential for updating the criteria used to allocate social apartments, aiming for a better alignment with the actual needs of the community, particularly tenant families.

Furthermore, they intend to inquire about the Capital City’s plans for new social housing projects and how non-governmental organizations, such as their own Association, can engage meaningfully in these initiatives.

According to the Tenants’ Association, social housing is crucial for many families in Montenegro. Their objective is to promote a fairer distribution of social housing resources and assist families struggling with high housing expenses.

“Additionally, the Tenants’ Association wishes to highlight that we will seek similar information from other municipalities across Montenegro, not just the Capital. Our aim is to ensure equal access to transparent and fair procedures in all local communities,” stated the organization.

They are hoping for a meeting invitation from the Capital City Secretariat for Social Welfare, stressing that reliance on a sluggish and untrustworthy administration is no longer viable.

“As a non-governmental organization, we are committed to actively engaging in matters related to social housing and monitoring these developments on behalf of all tenants, ensuring accountability, transparency, and equity for those in greatest need,” they added.

In conclusion, the Tenants’ Association remains dedicated to advocating for the rights of tenants, striving for improved housing conditions for all citizens of Montenegro.
