On the first day of the Balkan Senior Championship in Budva, Montenegrin karate athletes secured gold, silver, and bronze medals in individual kata events.

The Montenegrin final featured the trophy kata team’s leading athlete, Vladimir Mijač, who outperformed his national team and club mate, Kenan Nikočević.

Another strong performer from their club and national team, Benjamin Aljošević, made a remarkable debut in the senior competition, earning a bronze medal in his discipline.

Also shining in his first competition was Balša Vojinović, who claimed the title of senior Balkan champion in the 60 kg category after four impressive matches.

Jovana Stojanović faced misfortune as she was unable to continue to the final due to an injury, ultimately taking home a silver medal despite her strong efforts today.

Milena Jovanović had a successful outing in the +68 kg category, reaching the final and earning Balkan silver with her outstanding performances.

At the end of the first day, Montenegro is positioned second in the overall rankings.

The Montenegrin karate team aims to defend their title as the top team in the Balkans, with plans to compete in higher weight categories tomorrow.
