Shoe imprints discovered at the location where Nemanja Prelević (28) and Danilo Peković (20) lost their lives in Veruša do not correspond with the footwear taken from the defendants, nor do they align with the prints found at the crime scene.
This assertion was made by an expert witness during the trial at the Higher Court in Podgorica today.
The expert clarified that the tire treads collected from the scene were analyzed in comparison with the defendants’ shoes and found to be inconsistent.
The proceedings concerning the accused in relation to the murders of Prelević and Peković that transpired in Veruša on October 17, 2020, involving Marko Zekić and eight additional individuals, resumed today at the Higher Court in Podgorica, focusing on the presentation of written evidence.
Official documentation was reviewed, alongside video footage from various locations pertinent to the incident in Berane. These included recordings obtained from a gas station, residential properties, ‘Rudi komerc doo’, and the ‘Lukas’ hotel.
There were no objections raised by the defense regarding this evidence. The defendants’ counsel, attorney Stefan Jovanović, reiterated a stance previously presented during an earlier trial session, asserting that the defendants were located several kilometers from where the indictment claims they discharged their firearms, near the General Hospital in Berane.
As per the indictment, it is alleged that on November 18, 2021, around 10:00 PM, near the General Hospital in Berane, Marko Zekić, from a vehicle operated by Miomir Đukić, shot at the Sujković brothers, Ismet and Kenan, along with Mirza Kastrat, who were inside a Passat at that time.
The Special State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica has filed charges against an eight-member criminal organization connected to the accused Marko Zekić, who is currently at large. Alongside Zekić, the accused individuals include Miomir Đukić, Dragan Biletić, Vasilije Đukić, Mirčeta Mihailović, Nenad Miličić, Goran Milašinović, Branislav Ivanović, and Dragan Tarić.
According to the gathered evidence, on October 17, 2020, Marko Zekić, Vasilije Đukić, and Mihailović conspired to murder Prelević and Peković in Uvač.
Milašinović, Biletić, Ivanović, and Miličić allegedly facilitated the heinous murders of two residents of Podgorica by actively creating conditions and eliminating obstacles. Part of their role involved monitoring the movements of Prelević and Peković to ascertain the optimal time and place for their assassination.
“Upon discovering that the targets would be at Prelević’s residence in Uvač on October 17, they relayed this information to Zekić, Đukić, and Mirčeta Mihailović, who proceeded to Veruša,” the indictment states.
It further notes that Mirčeta Mihailović provided Zekić and Đukić with an automatic rifle and pistol, which they used to execute Prelević by shooting multiple rounds into his head and upper body. Following Prelević’s death, they entered the cottage and killed Peković.
Transcripts from the Sky application utilized by the members of this criminal group indicated that the plot to murder Prelević and Peković had been devised months ahead of the actual events. The indictment mentions that Marko Zekić had a physical altercation with Nemanja Prelević in a Podgorica bar, leading him to decide on Prelević’s elimination and inform other members of his criminal network.
The indictment further explains that, according to evidence sourced from France, Zekić communicated with the other defendants via the Sky application regarding the confrontation he had in a Podgorica establishment and notified them of his intent to kill Prelević.
“From future communications dated August 5, 2020, Zekić declared his decision to take Nemanja Prelević’s life due to the fight he had with him and two others in the certain restaurant. In those messages, Zekić mentioned having a firearm which he had left behind and simultaneously inquired among the other defendants about Prelević’s residence, his vehicle, and the street on which his house was located,” the indictment elaborates.
