The Group of Industrial Bakers of Montenegro has made it clear to Milutin Đuranović, the President of the Board of the Association of the Food and Agricultural Industry at the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, that its members are “strongly opposed to the boycott of retail chains.”

In a letter sent to Đuranović by Radivoje Bakić, the president of the group representing seven industrial bakeries, it was emphasized that a boycott would result in “massive losses that could jeopardize the sustainability of production and the employment of over 1,000 workers.”

Bakić presents three key arguments for their position:

“First, our production is largely daily (accounting for 50 to 70%); Second, large retail chains contribute to over 60% of our overall sales; Third, collaborating with these chains has alleviated the previously significant issue of payment constraints we faced before their emergence.”

In conclusion, Bakić noted that “this group has demonstrated maximum social responsibility in the past period.”

The letter was submitted on behalf of the following companies: “Inpek” AD Podgorica, “Don don” Danilovgrad, “Uniprom” Nikšić, “Put gros” Bijelo Polje, “Valpek” Danilovgrad, “Beni komerc” Ulcinj, and “Žitoprodukt” Pljevlja.
