The Cantonal Court in Tuzla has mandated a one-month detention for Emir Selimović, who is under suspicion for a double homicide in Kalesija, as confirmed by Admir Arnautović, spokesperson for the Tuzla Canton Prosecutor’s Office, to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

Selimović is alleged to have murdered his wife Inela and their 12-year-old son on the night of February 13-14. The tragic incident occurred in the Selimović family residence in Kalesija, located near Tuzla in northern Bosnia.

Following a tip-off, police, with proper authorization from the cantonal prosecutor and a Municipal Court judge, forcibly entered the apartment, where they discovered two lifeless bodies.

After the incident, Selimović fled and was later sighted in the Banja Luka area. His vehicle and personal effects were located near Lake Drenova close to Prnjavor, prompting days of searches by divers due to concerns he might have taken his own life.

On February 17th, he was apprehended in an abandoned weekend house near Prnjavor in northern Bosnia.

In the previous year alone, five women lost their lives in this region of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with Nizama Hećimović being killed in the same canton in August 2023.
