“Five Years of Destruction: Why Citizens are Pulling Support Ahead of the Elections”

We are gradually moving away from five years of political turmoil, and it is time for meaningful state governance to make a comeback, declared Danijel Živković, the president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS).

The DPS reported that Živković made these remarks during a public debate held in Ulcinj today.

“The era of nationalism and populism is coming to an end, as citizens are yearning for stability and progress. This is the cornerstone of the Democratic Party of Socialists’ policy. We can no longer tolerate triviality and stagnation. We must urgently refocus on development and advancement,” Živković asserted.

He pointed out that the past five years have witnessed a deterioration of the state system.

“The healthcare situation has never been more critical; waiting lists are longer than ever, and healthcare workers are lacking essential supplies. Due to populist economic strategies, the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund faces a potential collapse, the economy’s liquidity is at an unprecedented low, and public finance deficits are on the rise. One does not even need to discuss the security sector—its consequences on society and human lives are evident. They have wreaked havoc on everything they’ve touched over the last five years, which is why citizens are showing diminishing support for them in elections. Our program includes ten key measures aimed at addressing this crisis and restoring institutional order, followed by a focus on development, attracting investments, creating new job opportunities, and enhancing the quality of life for citizens,” stated Živković.

The DPS also noted that the head of the party’s MPs’ Club, Andrija Nikolić, spoke about the significant achievements of DPS MPs in the Parliament of Montenegro, which have bolstered trust in the Democratic Party of Socialists, and consequently, its ratings.

“The citizens have recognized our commitment to defending not only their interests but, most importantly, the interests of the state, and they have rewarded us for that,” Nikolić remarked.

The DPS announcement highlighted that the party concluded the previous year with a support percentage ranging from 28 to 29 percent, reflecting a slight increase compared to the previous year’s parliamentary elections.
