Montenegro’s Stance on Srebrenica Genocide is Unambiguous: Mandić Celebrates Republika Srpska Day Personally

The Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić, declared that the country’s stance on the genocide in Srebrenica is unequivocal, and noted that the Speaker of the Parliament, Andrija Mandić, congratulated the unconstitutional Republika Srpska Day on his personal behalf.

During the “Investigation of the Week” program on Hayat television, Spajić remarked that he is unsure of his agenda in July, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the genocide, but he is confident he will “find time in the future.”

“Every year, a high-level delegation attends. I could not attend. I don’t know what my plans are for July, but I am positive I will find the time later on. I have no issues with acknowledging genocide. Montenegro’s state position is definitive. The Parliament has approved the Resolution twice, and we backed it at the UN. No nation is inherently genocidal. It is individuals that committed these acts and must be held responsible. We need to reflect on our past and denounce historical atrocities to avoid carrying those burdens forward. Without historical constraints, we can move ahead,” said Spajić.

Regarding Mandić’s congratulatory message, Spajić conveyed that he recognized it as the party stance of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) in his discussions with the Speaker of the Parliament.

“They belong to a Serbian political assembly. We don’t oppose the representation of parties as a bridge. We should focus on what unites us. A civic Montenegro, one that respects every victim, will look toward the future. We support regional cooperation. It is crucial for our state to have a clear position. We condemn all crimes and are focused on the future,” stated Spajić.

He expressed pride in Montenegrins’ heritage from the Balkans while discussing the country’s aspirations toward European Union membership.

“We take pride in our mentality. We believe this is the added value we bring to the EU. A person from the Balkans is hard-working, intelligent, loyal, and dependable. There is immense potential in the Balkans. We do not hold an absolute majority in our nation. This beautiful diversity, ethnic and religious, enriches Montenegro. The criminal networks known in Europe cannot invest here. Sooner or later, all involved will be apprehended. We had almost 100 police officers who collaborated with criminal organizations,” commented Spajić.
