Mornar Faces Red Star with a Score of Minus 41

The Mornar basketball team faced their tenth consecutive defeat, yet another setback in the AdmiralBet ABA League that seemed predictable even before the game commenced.

The anticipated upset did not materialize, as Mornar suffered a convincing loss to Red Star Belgrade with a score of 110:69 at “Topolica,” in a match that resembled an exhibition.

Although the home team managed a couple of strong reactions to the reigning champions’ double-digit lead in the first half, the disparity in quality was so significant that Red Star, moving at a deliberate pace and utilizing all 12 players, established a 20-point margin after just 17 minutes, leading 54:37.

In the second half, Red Star played at their own tempo, extending the lead to 30 and then 40 points, while Mornar merely aimed to avoid a humiliating loss, as it has long been evident that Mihailo Pavićević’s squad cannot contend for victories against opponents participating in the Euroleague or Eurocup…

For nearly 25 minutes, the home team had only four scorers (Čiko Karter, Lovro Buljević, Lovre Runjić, and Brenden Jenkins), with 22-year-old Luka Radetić later stepping up and concluding the game with seven points.

In their next outing, the Montenegrin representative will travel to face Cedevita Olimpija, where they will again be seen as the underdog. Following that, they will have to perform better in upcoming matches to escape the bottom position on the table.

After the contest against Zvezdan Mitrović’s team, they will compete against Mega, Borac, Spartak, and direct rival Cibona, who currently has one more victory. This marks the concluding phase of Mornar’s season.
