The water polo team of Jadran M:tela continues to dominate the regional Premier League.
This winning run started on November 3rd of the previous year during an away match against Jug, and they have now triumphed again against the same opponent at Škver, concluding with a score of 12:9 for Vladimir Gojković’s squad.
It seems the only remaining question is not if Jadran will reach the final tournament, but rather from which position they will enter, following their 14th victory in the regional league.
Jadran has maintained an undefeated record against the formidable rivals from Gruž, who pushed until the very end. Strahinja Gojković netted a crucial goal for an 11:8 lead with just one minute and 56 seconds on the clock.
With 60 seconds remaining, Dmitriy Holod sealed the match with the final score.
“We were aware that Jug would be a tough opponent, especially with Maro Joković out. The level of aggressiveness from them took us by surprise initially, but we managed to maintain control from the start. Securing the win was essential to remain at the top,” remarked Gojković.
Dmitriy Holod led the scoring for Jadran with three goals, while Jovan Vujović and Danilo Radović each contributed two goals. Gojković, Đorđe Lazić, Matija Sladović, Vuk Milojević, and Vasilije Radović each scored once.
Jug’s standout scorers were Marko Žuvela and Vlaho Pavlić, both of whom scored twice.
In another matchup, Primorac fell short against Mladost in Varaždin, losing with a score of 15:7.
The “Frogs” surged ahead with a 7:0 lead at the start of the second quarter, and by halftime, they were ahead 10:2.
In the final period, Kotor’s team found themselves down by ten points (15:5), but managed to score two late goals to soften the blow of the defeat.
Milan Nikaljević was a top performer for the Montenegrin champions with three goals, while Nika Šušijašvili added two. Dragan Drašković and Savo Ćetković chipped in with one goal each.
Mladost’s Konstantin Harkov, a left-handed Russian playing for Croatia, was a highlight, scoring seven times.
In the A1 league, Qatar comfortably won against Nais from Niš, finishing 15:11, with Marko Milić scoring five goals for the victors.
