After a narrow victory over Hapoel Tel Aviv last Wednesday in Podgorica (84:83), the Buducnost Voli basketball team has secured a spot in the Eurocup playoff zone, where they aim to remain. The “blues” are enjoying a successful streak, showcasing remarkable performances in both the Eurocup and AdmiralBet ABA League, with another challenge on the horizon tomorrow (19).

This time, under the guidance of coach Andrej Žakelj, the team will travel to Germany for the 16th round of the European competition to face Ulm, a venue where Buducnost has not achieved a victory since 2021.

Currently, Buducnost is in fine form, having suffered only one loss in their last ten matches across all competitions, and they have the chance to make further progress toward the playoffs in Ulm.

“I believe we’ve maintained a good rhythm in our recent games, and it’s essential to keep that up. Our approach, concentration, and energy need to be at an optimal level in every match, especially against Ulm,” stated Andrej Žakelj, the coach of the Montenegrin champions.

In their first meeting of this season, which took place in November in Podgorica, Buducnost emerged victorious after a thrilling five-minute overtime (105:100).

“Ulm plays with aggression and speed, and they are excellent shooters. We remember our previous encounter in Podgorica, where they made a considerable number of three-pointers. We’re preparing thoroughly for this match, aware of where their strengths lie. We also recognize our weaknesses, and they are certainly aware of theirs too. Therefore, maintaining maximum focus on our tasks is crucial,” added Žakelj.

Buducnost currently shares the same record as Wolves, while Juventud has one less win, and Besiktas holds one more victory than the “blues”.

“This is an important game for us, just like every other Eurocup match. With the right mindset, we can certainly compete. We’re heading to Germany with optimism,” Žakelj concluded.

McKinley Wright has a clear objective.

“We have to win. Currently, we sit in sixth place on the table, so every Eurocup game is a must-win for us. Despite our ups and downs, we’ve remained united and proven that we can compete with any team. We need to keep that spirit,” Wright mentioned.
