“We Strive to Be a True Adversary”
The Bemaks basketball team from Podgorica will take to the court tomorrow in front of their supporters, facing off against Zlatibor to kick off the Top 8 phase of the NLB ABA Second League.
Podgorica secured their spot among the eight elite teams in the second-best regional league after Joker stepped aside due to financial difficulties.
During this second phase, the teams have been split into two groups.
Podgorica Bemax finds themselves in Group E, competing against Helios, Bosna, and Zlatibor, while Group F includes Široki, Cedevita Junior, Vojvodina, and Ilirija.
Marko Sekulić, the head coach of Podgorica Bemax, mentioned that after being knocked out in the group stage, they decided to refresh the squad and focus on featuring younger players in the Montenegrin League.
“Following our unanticipated advancement into the Top 8, we added three new players to enhance our competitiveness in the ABA Second League finals. Although we had limited time to prepare and integrate these new talents, we will strive to be a formidable opponent for every team in our group,” Sekulić explained on the club’s website.
As the sole Montenegrin representative in the primary phase of the ABA Second League, the team has gone through some adjustments in both player and coaching personnel.
Tomorrow night, Sekulić will have the chance to lead the senior team in the regional league for the first time against Zlatibor, following his recent debut at the Podgorica helm in an away match against Kotor.
“We anticipate a challenging game against a talented and seasoned Zlatibor squad, which has added our former player Marko Kljajević to their roster. I’m confident it will be a fierce battle for every possession, but I remain hopeful for a victory,” Sekulić concluded. The match at the Bemaks Arena is set to commence at 6 PM.
