The extradition of South Korean citizen Kwon to the United States has been approved by a senior court in Podgorica, where he faces charges related to criminal association and other offenses.

This ruling is not final, and Kwon’s lawyers have the option to appeal, as reported by “News”.

The Court of Appeals previously asserted that the final decision rests with the court itself, rather than the Minister of Justice, and clarified that the request for extradition did not originate from the government of South Korea or the United States.

Meanwhile, the Court of Appeals annulled the initial decision made by a higher court regarding the legal basis for Kwon’s extradition for prosecution stemming from multiple charges presented by both countries.

Kwon and his business associate were detained on March 23 of last year at Podgorica airport after attempting to use forged Costa Rican passports during passport control.
