Jadran m:tel found the net first just shy of ten minutes into the match, with their second goal coming only five minutes before the final whistle… Such offensive performance is unacceptable, even for teams with lesser credentials than those competing in the Champions League.

The water polo athletes from Herceg Novi have now faced their third defeat in Europe’s top tier – Marseille emerged victorious against Vladimir Gojković’s team with a score of 9:3 in Trebinje.

In a crucial moment, when a victory could have been pivotal for advancing in the tournament, Jadran delivered their poorest performance this season.

In contrast to Primorje, which has all but exited the Champions League, the Novljani still have opportunities to advance, but following their loss to the team from Provence, the path forward has become significantly more challenging.

Marseille, directed from the sidelines by former Montenegro goalkeeper Miloš Šćepanović and defended by current “Shark” netminder Petar Tešanović, quickly established a 4:0 lead, before Aleksandar Ivović managed to narrow it to 4:1.

After that, Jadran struggled against the French side, with Marseille eventually winning 9:1. In the final five minutes, Danilo Radović and Ivović managed to ease the heavy defeat with another goal.

Tešanović was instrumental as one of Marseille’s standout players with 11 saves, while former Montenegrin national teammate Igo Kruzi contributed three goals, and both Toma Verna and Mark Larumbe added two goals each to their tally.

Vladimir Gojković’s squad now looks ahead to upcoming fixtures against Barceloneta away and Vašaš in Trebinje.
