Serbs Today: Two Entities in the Balkans – Republika Srpska and Serbia

The President of Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, addressed an audience in Skopje this evening, asserting that “Serbs today have two states in the Balkans – RS and Serbia” and claiming that “the Serbian people did not engage in the civil war in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).”

Dodik emphasized, “In any case, I want to express that RS is our reality. We experience it as a state. We are convinced that Serbs today in the Balkans possess two states – RS and Serbia,” during his speech at the St. Sava Academy, marking Saint Sava Day at the Macedonian National Theatre.

“We aspire to exist within a state as it has been afforded to other nations. We do not seek to impose harm upon anyone. Historically, Serbs have demonstrated this,” Dodik remarked.

Dodik highlighted that Serbs “have always shown a willingness to endure without compromising their dignity” and noted that their historical narrative “has consistently favored the victors.”

“Despite attempts to label the Serbian people based on the past civil war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, they have not sullied their hands. Claims of genocide are false, and assertions of large-scale casualties among other populations are untrue. When you reflect on this matter, the truth prevails,” Dodik stated during the St. Sava Academy event organized by the Serbian Cultural Center “Skopje.”
