“If Vodovod Delays Tender for Velje Brdo, I Will Initiate a Push for Changes”

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić has declared his intent to initiate changes at Podgorica’s Water Company if the company fails to issue the tender for the road, sewage, and electricity related to the Velje Brdo project by February 15th.

This announcement came via a post on the social media platform X, where he addressed a query from user “Çiča Miša” regarding his receipt of a water bill.

User “Uncle Miša” reminded Spajić of his statement from November of the previous year, in which he assured that there would be no hikes in the costs for either electricity or water.

Since January 15th, the price per cubic meter of water in Podgorica increased by 1 percent, equating to 41 cents.

In his tweet, Spajić highlighted that the Water Company raised prices in spite of prior warnings.

“Not only did they increase prices against our warning, but they also lack efficiency – they are the obstruction in the Velje Brdo project and persist in delaying the comprehensive tender for the road, water, sewage, and electricity. Should they fail to facilitate the project by February 15th, I will initiate an offensive for shifts in their ranks,” Spajić stated.

Water rates in Podgorica have surged by 40 percent since January, leading to citizens now receiving the higher bills. This price increase was previously sanctioned by the Regulatory Agency for Energy and Regulated Communal Activities, as reported by “Vijesti” in October of the prior year.

At that time, Spajić denied that water prices would rise.
