The Do Good Foundation is set to launch the “Stop Violence, Choose Respect” initiative over the next five months at “Golubovci” Mixed Secondary School in Zeta and “Petar I Petrović Njegoš” Gymnasium in Danilovgrad. This project will engage at least 120 students along with ten teachers from these educational institutions.

The primary aim of the initiative is to mitigate peer violence by promoting non-violent communication techniques among youth.

“The prevention of peer violence in schools and online is attainable by enhancing non-violent communication skills through assertive communication education and the Stroke concept derived from transactional analysis in psychotherapy. Furthermore, it’s crucial to promote the responsible use of the internet and social media,” stated the Foundation.

The project emphasizes cultivating emotional intelligence among young individuals, highlighting the significance of assertive behavior, and applying the Stroke concept, which aids them in recognizing, appreciating, and responding constructively to their own emotional needs and those of others, fulfilling them in a healthy manner.

“Throughout the workshops, students will learn effective conflict resolution methods, challenge stereotypes, and propose innovative solutions to traditional roles (male-female dynamics, diversity), identify potential dangers in the digital realm, and work towards creating a safer online environment. They will also boost their self-confidence and enhance their self-esteem,” they added.

Each educational institution will conduct six workshops titled: “Recognize me, I recognize you”, “I’m OK, you’re OK”, “No worries”, “Spread further”, and “Don’t click violence, click respect”, facilitated by Lidija Ivanović, Ivana Perović, Svetlana Jovetić Koprivica, and Zorka Vojinović.

The “Stop Violence, Choose Respect” project, spearheaded by the “Do Good” Foundation, receives support from the “HEART: Supporting the Empowerment and Resilience of Youth Today” program, conducted by the Center for Civic Education (CCE) in collaboration with the Regional Academy for the Development of Democracy (ADD). The project is backed by funding from the European Union and co-financed by the Ministry of Public Administration.
