Security personnel at the Parliament prevented Miloš Jovanović, an MP from the New Democratic Party of Serbia (Novi DSS), from re-entering the chamber where the Parliamentary Collegium is taking place after he displayed a banner opposing the government.

A reporter from Beta agency noted that there was a confrontation between members of the NADA coalition and parliamentary security at the entrance to the hall designated for the 10 am meeting of the Collegium.

According to Jovanović, he initially succeeded in entering the hall, but security has since barred him from returning.

He asserted that “no collegium or assembly will occur,” advocating instead for a transitional government, and emphasized that the New DSS representatives will persist with their blockade.

Members of the party are displaying a large banner that reads “Serbia is rising up so the regime will fall” while blowing whistles.

The Green-Left Front to Boycott Upcoming Assembly Session

The MPs of the Green-Left Front have announced they will not take part in the upcoming National Assembly session.

They have stated that it is essential to meet all student demands to address the social crisis in Serbia.

“While we believe that exerting pressure from within institutions is a crucial aspect of our struggle—which is why we transitioned from a protest movement into a parliamentary party—at this moment, the most effective way to express the widespread civil rebellion and foster solidarity is to engage in conversations with students and citizens in the streets of our cities. This includes supporting the rebellious and solidarity-driven students and teachers in Novi Sad during the blockade of three bridges, taking place three months after the tragedy that resulted in the collapse of the canopy and the deaths of 15 individuals, scheduled for February 1st,” declared the ZLF.

The Speaker of the Serbian Parliament, Ana Brnabić, has announced that a parliamentary session will convene on Wednesday, during which the vote of confidence in the Serbian Government will be on the agenda.
