On May 6, 2012, everything came together in Trieste – after enduring nine challenging years filled with “Calciopoli” and Serie B, Juventus finally claimed the title of champions, and Mirko Vučinić, after numerous unforgettable performances in Italy, achieved his first Scudetto.

The “Bianconeri” triumphed over Cagliari in Trieste during the penultimate match of Serie A (the Sardinian team played their final game 1,000 km away from home) and secured the championship.

Nearly 13 years later, the Montenegrin football icon reflected on those moments for the official website of the Turin club.

“I won my first Scudetto in these colors after many years in Italy – that joy and fulfillment will remain with me forever. All of us at Juventus had been eagerly anticipating this victory, and when it happened on that unforgettable evening in Trieste, we celebrated together after an incredible season,” reminisced Mirko, who netted a goal in that match.

The first captain in Montenegro’s history was present at Juventus for the Champions League match against Benfica last Wednesday, allowing the Turin club to produce a feature titled: Juventus’ Corner of Legends, showcasing the remarkable talents of Mirko Vučinić.

“Juventus and its fans are etched in my heart and mind. Coming back here has rekindled all the wonderful emotions I experienced at this club and in this stadium,” stated Vučinić, who was presented with a new Juventus jersey featuring the number nine and his surname by the club.

He once again captured the hearts of the Turin fans.

“We all understand how crucial they are to the team, how much they can uplift players at any moment, and how their support creates a palpable difference – believe me, that sensation is indescribable.”

He also recounted his first goal while wearing the black and white jersey – against Bologna, when he received the ball from another Juventus legend.

“I will always remember that goal, at home, in this stadium. We faced Bologna, and Andrea Pirlo reacted swiftly to assist me… It was unforgettable. I can still vividly recall every detail; it’s a feeling I will cherish forever.”

Mirko joined Juve from Roma, donned the Turin giant’s colors for three seasons, clinching two more Scudettos. He made 96 appearances, scored 26 goals, and provided 21 assists.

“Yes, I did record several assists, but as a striker and number 9, I always prioritized scoring over assisting for the win. However, it was certainly gratifying to help my teammates find the best scoring opportunities,” concluded Vučinić.
