A protest by parents took place today at Pristan in Ulcinj, calling attention to the shortage of children’s playgrounds in the city.
They are demanding the establishment of safe playgrounds and penalties for those who vandalized two existing ones located near the Cultural Center and in the Mala Plaza park.
Many parents expressed their frustration, stating that the absence of secure playgrounds forces them to travel to Shkodra and Tirana from Podgorica and Bar with their children.
This protest was organized by a grassroots group of parents.
Previously, Vijesti reported that three new children’s playgrounds are expected to be built soon at Pristan, in the park, near the Cultural Center, and behind the Igman buildings. These playgrounds will be outfitted with modern, high-quality equipment.
The Secretariat for Investments has announced that the Municipality has completed the tender process and signed a contract with the Serbian company “Kalcom” for playground equipment installation at the Pristan playground. The estimated value of this work is approximately ten thousand euros, and the Secretariat indicates that construction should commence shortly.
Tender processes for the development of playgrounds at the Cultural Center and the area behind the Igman buildings have also been initiated. The Secretariat reports that the most suitable bidders have been selected, and contracts will be finalized once the complaint periods end.
The budget for developing the site behind the Igman buildings, which will feature a new children’s playground, is around 100 thousand euros.
The renovations for the children’s playground at the Cultural Center, which will include a rubber surface, total around 53 thousand euros, VAT included.
In late 2023, the municipality refurbished the playgrounds at Pristan and the Cultural Center, but they were unfortunately vandalized and completely destroyed shortly after.
