The Border Police have confiscated ten high-value passenger vehicles, with one being seized at the border crossing and the other nine within the country, according to a statement from the Police Directorate today.

The communicated details indicate that these vehicles were requested by the national central bureaus of Interpol from various European nations, with the operation spanning from February 1 to 3.

“The officers from the Border Police Sector conducted planned operations within their jurisdiction to locate and temporarily seize the passenger vehicles requested by several European countries’ national central bureaus of Interpol. Furthermore, enhanced border control measures were implemented at road border crossings concerning the requested vehicles, combined with thorough vehicle checks and inspections. As part of this operation, all border crossings in Montenegro not only performed regular initial border checks but also increased scrutiny at secondary checkpoints through available records, leading to the identification and confiscation of 10 high-value passenger vehicles — one at the border and nine within the country,” the statement outlined.

The Police Directorate noted that further actions and measures regarding these vehicles are being undertaken by police officers as per the directives of the relevant prosecutors who have been briefed on the occurrences.

“In accordance with their authority, beyond the Border Police Sector, officers from the Crime Prevention Sector, as well as regional center officers according to their territorial jurisdictions, along with Frontex and Customs Administration officers, all participated in this operation,” the Police Administration indicated in their statement.
