Besides the United States, Montenegro has proposed two amendments to the German Resolution regarding Srebrenica to foster optimal relations and ease political tensions in the region, according to RTCG.

According to unofficial information from the Government, the amendments aim to specify individual accountability for the genocide in Srebrenica and highlight the significance of the Dayton Agreement.

The first amendment states: “Restating that the responsibility for the genocide is individual and cannot be attributed to any ethnicity, religious, or other group or community,” while the second amendment reads: “affirming the overall Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina in all its provisions.”

These proposed changes, as mentioned by government officials, aim to avert any potential misuse by Serbia and the Serbian people regarding legal and political consequences, and counteract narratives that seek to label an entire nation as genocidal.

The existence of Republika Srpska is fundamentally recognized in BiH, guaranteed by the Dayton Agreement, as certain officials have reportedly made statements targeting RS, according to RTCG.
