Former long-serving President and Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, may face imminent arrest, as reported by Zagreb’s “Jutarnji list,” citing well-informed sources from Podgorica close to the ex-leader.

“According to sources from Podgorica, the state prosecutor’s office, now under the ruling pro-government coalition, is purportedly set to receive extradition from Great Britain involving ‘businessman’ Duško Knežević, who is allegedly cooperating as a ‘protected witness’,” claims the morning paper.

They emphasize that Milo Djukanovic has long been accused of being at the core of Montenegro’s “Corrupt Hobbits.”

“It should be noted that a court in Bari has led investigations concerning cigarette smuggling, while Brussels has expressed concerns regarding Djukanovic’s dubious dealings and ‘tolerance of criminal activities’ throughout his lengthy rule of over 30 years,” the article states.

However, “Jutarnji” argues that this situation reflects a political resolution with the prior authorities, suggesting that it has been influenced by thriving political parties.
