Vučević: Insufficient Action on Free Education for Students from Montenegro – News

Prime Minister Miloš Vučević noted today that little progress has been made regarding free education for citizens of Montenegro who identify as part of the Serbian community, expressing a desire for improved effectiveness from both sides.

While in Mojkovac, Vučević responded to journalists’ inquiries after laying a wreath at the monument to the heroes of the Mojkovačka battle, stating that it was not a specific initiative for any particular period.

“There have been initiatives from both sides. We offer privileges to citizens of other countries who consider themselves part of the Serbian people, and I wish we could be more effective. We need the support of the Montenegrin government,” Vučević said.

He expressed enthusiasm about students coming from Montenegro to study in Serbia, noting that this benefits both Montenegro and the students themselves, as it allows for opportunities beyond their own borders.

Vučević highlighted that a significant number of students from Montenegro are coming to Belgrade and Novi Sad, indicating that it has become a tradition.

However, he emphasized that what is unacceptable is the abuse of this system, stating that it is inappropriate for someone to enroll in university as a Serb and then later express negative views towards Serbia and the Serbian people contrary to their initial representation.
