Primorac Dominates the Third “Olympic Hopes” Tournament

The talented young water polo team from Primorje has emerged victorious in the third edition of the “Olympic Hopes” tournament, a competition for aspiring players born in 2012 and later, which took place last weekend in Budva.

In the championship match, the Kotor team secured a 9:5 win against Aquatic Verde (2:2, 0:1, 5:1, 2:1), with both teams finishing at the top of their respective groups during the preliminary rounds, earning maximum points.

During the group stage, Primorac triumphed over Jadran m:tela with a score of 18:2 (7:1, 4:0, 2:1, 5:0), defeated Juga 15:13 after a thrilling five rounds (2:2, 4:4, 2:3, 2:1, 5:3), edged past Budva BDR 8:7 (2:2, 1:2, 3:0, 2:3), and overcame Mornara 8:4 (3:2, 1:2, 2:0, 2:0).

In group B, Aquatic Verde claimed victory against Leotar 18:5 (6:0, 3:1, 6:2, 3:2), outperformed Buducnost 13:8 (7:3, 0:1, 5:2, 1:2), narrowly defeated Mladost 8:7 (1:2, 2:1, 3:2, 2:2), and won against Jadran Split 5:4 (0:3, 1:1, 1:1, 3:0).

Completing the success for our clubs, Mladost faced Budva BDR in the match for third place, where the young players from Bijela emerged victorious with a score of 9:8 (1:1, 5:2, 2:3, 1:2).

The tournament featured ten clubs, with Budućnost finishing in eighth place and Jadran m:tel in ninth.

Matija Bulajić from Budva BDR was awarded the title of best player, while Josip Vukašinović from Primorac was recognized as the best goalkeeper.

The earlier two tournaments were hosted by clubs from Montenegro.

Primorac clinched victory in the junior hopefuls category (players born in 2013 and younger), while Jadran m:tel took first place in the younger cadets category (players born in 2011 and younger).

The “Olympic Hopes” tournament is traditionally organized by clubs from Montenegro and Dubrovnik-Neretva County, aiming to enhance the quality of water polo and foster connections among participants.
