Pešić Unveils Roster as Jokić Captains Serbia in European Championship
The head coach of the Serbian men’s basketball team, Svetislav Pešić, has revealed the expanded roster of players for the upcoming European Championship.
This year’s European Championship is set to take place from August 27 to September 14 across Latvia, Poland, Cyprus, and Finland. The Serbian national team will compete in Group A in Riga, alongside Turkey, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Portugal, and Estonia.
The roster includes 17 players: Aleksa Avramović, Stefan Jović, Vasilije Micić, Bogdan Bogdanović, Marko Guduric, Uroš Trifunović, Nikola Topić, Ognjen Dobrić, Vanja Marinković, Dejan Davidovac, Nikola Jović, Filip Petrushev, Nikola Jokić, Nikola Milutinov, Tristan Vukčević, Balša Koprivica, and Alen Smailagić.
Assisting Pešić will be Oliver Kostić, Ognjen Stojaković, Marko Marinović, Nenad Jakovljević, and Mihajlo Mitić. The fitness coaching team comprises Marko Sekulić, Marko Stanojević, Fedja Sretenović, and Stefan Radoičić.
The Serbian national team kicks off preparations today with a meeting in Belgrade. The initial training sessions will be held in Stara Pazova, and the first two friendly matches will take place at the Belgrade Arena against Bosnia and Herzegovina (August 5) and Poland (August 6), both closed to the public.
Following this, the team will participate in two preparatory tournaments: the first in Cyprus on August 9th and 10th, facing teams from Cyprus, Greece, and Israel, and the second in Munich on August 15th and 16th, competing against Germany, Turkey, and the Czech Republic.
The Serbian basketball squad will wrap up their preparations with a match against Slovenia at the Belgrade Arena on August 21st.
