The Podgorica Bemax basketball team has secured a well-known coaching figure for the upcoming season.
Miodrag Kadija has been appointed as the new coach for the ABA2 League team.
“I’m excited to work with many young players and I hope to see their significant growth throughout the season. The aim of being at a club like Podgorica is to develop talent. Additionally, achieving positive results would be fantastic. That’s why I quickly came to terms with the management,” Kadija shared on the club’s website.
Next season, the ABA2 league will consist of 16 teams.
According to the new competition structure, each team will play eight matches during the season—four at home and four away.
At the end of these eight rounds, the top eight teams in the standings will move on to the quarterfinals.
Podgorica will kick off the season against Borac from Banja Luka on October 7th.
“The ABA League has undergone some changes, and we can certainly expect a challenging season ahead. We aim to make an impact, give our all, and facilitate the growth of our youth through this competition,” Kadija stressed.
So far, Podgorica has brought in four new players: Lazar Radetić, Aleksa Bulajić, Petar Minić, and Danilo Ivanović.
“I’m happy that we’ve secured agreements with several talented individuals, and I’m thrilled that we will have a very young team. We need to put in hard work to achieve our goals,” concluded Kadija, who has managed several teams throughout his career, including Lovćen, Budućnost, Atlas, Avala Ada, Igokea, Strumica, Sloga, Teodo, and Spurs.
Kadija has also coached the junior national teams of Serbia and Montenegro and led the cadet team of Serbia and Montenegro to a gold medal at the 2003 European Championship.
