The Municipal Board of the Socialist People’s Party (SNP) of the Capital City has condemned the misuse of citizens’ funds in Podgorica due to unjustifiable and excessive fees paid by the City Television to individuals affiliated with the former city administration, stated Vuk Stanišić, the president of the SNP Podgorica Youth Association.
Stanišić pointed out that reports indicate Tamara Nikčević received 4,000 euros per month under a service contract, while others like Šeki Radončić, Andrej Nikolaidis, and Borka Biserko received only 150 euros for their written content. This disparity is offensive to all citizens who earn far less while carrying greater responsibilities.
“This practice does not reflect any cultural or media policy; it clearly illustrates how the Capital City’s resources were utilized for political infighting, personal gain, and the financial support of ideological allies from the former regime. While citizens endured inadequate infrastructure, poor living conditions, and unemployment, budget funds were diverted to ‘journalists’ and ‘analysts’ who disseminated propaganda and hate speech as per party directives,” he remarked.
According to him, the SNP demands responsible management of public resources, accountability in public institutions, and transparency for every cent spent from the city budget.
“We call for an immediate review of all service contracts and royalties concerning Gradska TV from the past period, along with criminal and institutional accountability for those who permitted such gross misuse of citizens’ money. The citizens of Podgorica deserve a public service that serves everyone’s interests, not a party mouthpiece funded by their taxes,” Stanišić concluded.
