Authorities in Berane conducted a search yesterday at the home and other locations associated with MD (34), uncovering 54 rounds of 7.65 mm caliber ammunition in his illegal possession.
According to the Police Directorate’s announcement, further investigation led officers to suspect that the ammunition belonged to MD’s father, PD, also from Berane. The Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Berane has been notified about the situation.
Following the directive of the prosecutor on duty, criminal charges will be brought against PD for the suspected offense of illegal possession and carrying of firearms and explosives after conducting relevant expert evaluations at the Police Directorate’s Forensic Center.
The Police Directorate urges citizens to voluntarily surrender any illegally owned weapons without facing legal consequences, in line with the campaign titled ‘Respect life, return weapons.’ Individuals can call 122 to inform officers of their intention to return weapons, after which the police will retrieve them at the specified location and provide a receipt. Officers will continue with enhanced monitoring and operational actions to combat violence and illegal firearms possession, aiming to improve community safety overall,” the police statement reads.
