After three rounds in the Meridianbet First Montenegrin Football League, defending champions Budućnost find themselves six points behind leaders Dečić. This period has been tumultuous under coach Nenad Lalatović, who departed following a loss to Arsenal in Tivat, leaving assistant Ivan Delic to take over as head coach.
Delić is set to debut tonight (8 p.m.), as Budućnost faces Dečić in a highly anticipated fourth-round derby.
This derby arrives at a crucial moment, which could either be fortuitous or challenging for the “blues.” A response is urgently needed.
– Dečić is currently in excellent form, playing well and achieving positive results, evident in the standings. We’ve trained in a positive atmosphere for two days, and the energy in the team is fantastic. I’m looking forward to a strong performance and a favorable outcome – stated Ivan Delić in the pre-match report.
Despite the events unfolding at the club, Delić highlighted the team’s positive vibe.
– The players are eager for the match. My role is to help channel that energy and focus their minds.
Delić also encouraged fans to fill the stadium.
– I urge Buducnost supporters to turn out in large numbers. If we ever needed backing, it’s now—so we can secure the three points and celebrate together – said Delić.
On the flip side, Dečić enters the derby with full momentum. A win would provide a significant nine-point cushion over Budućnost, a strong start to the season.
– Budućnost is currently under pressure from two defeats, making them potentially the most dangerous opponents. They boast a strong squad, but we aim to maintain our early-season rhythm – remarked Dečić midfielder Andrej Bajović.
Sutjeska recently ended their winning streak with a 1:1 draw against Petrovac and seeks to regain their triumph in an away match against Jezero.
