Today at noon, the main road Ribarevine-Berane was blocked in Brzava.

Residents from Brzava, Prijelog, Zaton, and surrounding areas organized the blockade to voice their frustrations regarding the slow progress of construction and disagreements between the contractor and the Traffic Administration.

They have given the contractor and investor a two-day ultimatum to commence work, threatening to escalate their protests if their demands are not met.

Traffic in the area was halted for 30 minutes as a warning.

Bogdan Šćekić expressed that the works have been ongoing for over a year, yet asphalting remains unfinished despite significant preparations.

“Our cars are suffering on this road, and we are extremely frustrated. We were told that work would resume in two days, but we would prefer it to be completed once and for all. We’re not against anyone—neither institutions nor contractors or investors—we just want the asphalt laid properly,” Šćekić stated.

Locals warned that if work does not proceed, their protests will intensify further.

Marinko Nedović from Prijelog shared that residents are tired of unmet promises and postponed timelines regarding construction.

“We came together to voice our concerns about the relocation of the bus stop and access to our villages. While we reached an agreement regarding the stop, the ongoing delays in construction have become intolerable. We all rely on this road for work, school, and daily tasks, yet its condition is unacceptable. The hold-up has resulted in significant losses for households selling agricultural goods to markets in Bijelo Polje, Berane, and beyond,” he added, emphasizing the adverse impact on this agricultural community.
