Workers at the Railway Infrastructure Company (ŽICG), who ceased operations last Friday, did not decline the proposed salary of 1,000 euros. However, they cannot agree to it without assurance regarding its implementation and payment, stated Andrej Kaluđerović, a spokesperson for the group.

“On behalf of the 85 employed train dispatchers, TK dispatchers, and traffic dispatchers, we want to address the public concerning the management’s statements and unreasonable criticisms directed at us. We want to make it clear: we have not rejected the proposed salary of 1,000 euros. We accept this salary; however, we cannot accept it without a guarantee for when it will be implemented and paid. Vague promises without deadlines are meaningless and could remain unfulfilled for months or even years,” the statement emphasized.

He noted that they are not refusing the “agreed salary” but are insisting on “a minimum level of seriousness, including a specific and binding date for payment commencement.”

In the interim, he explained that they are requesting the Board of Directors and the Executive Director to provide a monthly payment of 200 euros as a temporary measure until a collective agreement is finalized.

“Without a clear guarantee, we cannot and will not agree to resume work, as we have been misled numerous times and left waiting for unfulfilled promises. Our stance is firm: with a guarantee, we will return to work immediately. Without a guarantee, there will be no return. We wish to convey to the public that this is not mere stubbornness, but rather a matter of our survival and that of our families. We want to work, but we demand the security and respect that we deserve,” Kaluđerović concluded.
