In his third season in the Championship, Milutin Osmajić has made a fantastic start with three goals in three games on the Island.

The Montenegrin national player and Preston forward delivered an outstanding performance against Queens Park Rangers in their first match, followed by impressive goals against teams recently relegated from the Premier League.

Osmajić netted the winner in the 85th minute against Leicester, the 2016 English champions, and later secured a penalty against Ipswich that clinched the victory.

His remarkable August performances haven’t gone unnoticed, with prominent journalist Gianluca di Marzio reporting interest from Serie A teams Sassuolo, Cremonese, and Lecce, along with interest from Spain’s Deportivo La Coruña.

However…

“Most of these rumors are unfounded; the club hasn’t received any offers,” stated Preston coach Paul Hackinbotham at a press conference before the Ipswich match.

This raises the question of Osmajić’s market value, especially with two years left on his contract.

“Do you see the transfer fees for some players? But let me be clear: Osmajić is not for sale. If he were to leave, we would need a replacement who is better, correct? So the answer is no,” Hackinbottom firmly stated.

He also reiterated his respect for the former Sutjeska striker.

“In my view, he is a striker capable of scoring 20 goals a season in the Championship, and I believe he can even exceed that. That’s my assessment,” Hackinbottom emphasized.

He further highlighted Osmajić’s determination for more goals.

“He feels he should have scored even more by now. The silver lining is that he consistently seizes opportunities, and I truly believe he can achieve 20 or more goals, especially given the way he’s started the season,” concluded Hackinbottom.

With two victories against promotion favorites and a draw on the road, Preston has had a flawless start to the season. With Osmajić in top form, they can aspire to contend for the Championship title.
