Milatovic: I’m Uncertain About the Importance of the Jasenovac Resolution for Montenegro

Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic expressed uncertainty regarding the Resolution on Jasenovac, which is expected to be discussed in the Parliament of Montenegro. He emphasized the significance of this issue for the country, but raised doubts about when it would actually be addressed in parliament.

“First, we should wait to see if that happens,” Milatovic stated to journalists in Podgorica after a forum on pension system reform.

– I believe that when it is presented, if it is presented (on the parliamentary agenda), we can engage in further discussions. However, I do not think that the timing is critical for Montenegro right now, and it seems that discussions on topics like this are being prioritized today. I feel that all social energy should be directed towards such themes – Milatovic remarked, following the Podgorica success.

In recent years, Podgorica and regional media have speculated that the resolution concerning the Genocide in Jasenovac might be on the agenda of the Parliament of Montenegro for Friday, June 28, coinciding with one of the largest Serbian holidays, Vidovdan.

According to announcements on the Parliament’s website, sessions for the Parliament of Montenegro are planned for June 28 and 29; however, the proposal for the resolution on Jasenovac is not listed on the agenda.

Additionally, the President of the Assembly, Andrija Mandic, had previously attempted four times, without success, to schedule the ninth session of the first regular Spring Session, which is slated for Friday.
