Nearly 500 grams of marijuana discovered in possession of Russian national

The police in Budva dealt with Russian nationals living illegally in Montenegro, uncovering nearly half a kilogram of marijuana on one individual, along with a resident of Podgorica, RP, who is suspected of facilitating the use of narcotic drugs.
Authorities reported that they checked a Russian national, AZ (27), residing in Budva, whose passport is valid until July 23, 2023.
During the search, four green pills and one white pill, both unmarked, were discovered in a zip bag in his possession.
“In addition, KZ (21), AZ’s brother, was also checked, and upon reviewing his personal documents, it was revealed that his temporary residence permit expired on October 31 of the previous year,” the police statement indicated.
It was noted that he would face further scrutiny from foreign inspectors regarding his illegal stay in Montenegro.
“Following additional operational measures concerning AZ, approximately 480 grams of marijuana, 20 Xanax pills without medical documentation, and a small PVC package containing an unknown gray plant substance weighing about eight grams were found in his apartment in Budva and his house in the Krimovica area of Kotor,” the statement detailed.
The police confirmed that, under the directive of the acting prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica, AZ was arrested on charges of unauthorized production, possession, and distribution of narcotic drugs.
“Furthermore, Budva police and the Special Police Unit assessed JB (19), SK (18), AU (19), and RP (18) from Podgorica, discovering a package of green plant material suspected to be marijuana in RP’s possession,” the statement elaborated.
Law enforcement stated that they believed RP had facilitated drug use for JB, SK, and AU, with whom he was present.
“The state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Kotor was notified, who indicated that RP’s behavior aligns with elements of the criminal offense of facilitating the consumption of narcotic drugs, recommending that charges be brought against him,” the statement concluded.
