Notable Matchups in the Round of 16 at the Women’s Volleyball World Championship
With the group stage of the 2025 Women’s Volleyball World Championship now concluded, the matchups for the round of 29 have been revealed. This phase kicks off on Friday, August 29th.
The opening match in the round of 3 features the Netherlands facing Serbia. The Dutch team topped Group A, while Serbia secured the runner-up position in Group H. On the same day, Japan, which overcame Serbia 1-3 in their final group stage match, will compete against Thailand, the second-place team from Group A, in the round of 16.
Action continues on Saturday with scheduled matches between Italy and Germany, as well as Poland taking on Belgium. Italy and Poland emerged as the leaders of groups B and G, respectively, while their opponents finished second in their respective groups.
Sunday will see China go head-to-head with France, and Brazil will compete against the Dominican Republic, both of whom have advanced to the last 16 from Groups C and F.
The last set of matches in the round of 16 will take place on Monday. The United States, leading Group D, will take on Canada, which finished second in Group E. The concluding match of this round will feature Turkey, the winner of Group E, clashing with Slovenia, who placed second in Group D.
