The Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro, Ivan Bošković, attended the inaugural plenary meeting of the newly formed European Volleyball Commission (EVC) on Tuesday at the headquarters of European Volleyball in Luxembourg.

This meeting marks the beginning of a new era for the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV), as it merges the previous European Cup Commission (ECC) and the European Sports Competitions Organisation Commission (ESOC).

Motivated by a deep passion for volleyball and a commitment to advancing the sport, members of the EVC discussed strategies for enhancing and streamlining the CEV competition portfolio, while also sharing ideas on ways to improve the CEV Champions League, which is a vital asset for the European volleyball community.

Additionally, the EVC reviewed proposals aimed at enhancing the competitive pathway for younger volleyball players, ensuring they have the necessary support for a smooth transition to senior categories and opportunities for skill development, allowing them to progressively pursue and fulfill their professional goals.

During discussions regarding competitions for senior teams, the focus was on optimizing the current volleyball framework, particularly the qualification processes for the CEV European Championships and the CEV European League.

“Our meeting was very fruitful, and I am particularly impressed by the diverse backgrounds of our members, each bringing substantial knowledge and experience from their work with clubs and national federations,” stated EVC President Libencio Conti. “Of course, some ideas and initiatives will require additional time for further development and execution, but this is a solid start and we are heading in the right direction. Our efforts will continue through various working groups, with members categorized into smaller teams, each concentrating on specific focus areas. I am confident that the future of European volleyball is promising,” Concluded Conti.
