“Players Are Human, and Winning Is What Matters Most”

The journey was challenging, but Budućnost Voli has achieved its 10th consecutive victory by overcoming a tenacious Zadar team (84:77) in the 19th round of the AdmiralBet ABA League.

The “blue and white” often managed to pull away from the relentless visitors, yet Vladimir Mihailović’s squad continually fought back. Ultimately, the undeniable skill of the Montenegrin champions shone through.

“This was definitely one of our weaker performances in the past month or so—there’s no denying it, and more such games may follow because players aren’t machines,” stated Budućnost coach Andrej Žakelj at the post-match press conference.

He commended both his own players and the opposing team.

“Congratulations to my players for securing the win, and also to Zadar for putting forth a noteworthy performance characterized by toughness and physical strength,” Žakelj remarked.

He was transparent about the challenges his team faced.

“Indeed, there were issues—we felt a bit fatigued and drained from the recent matches. This was particularly evident in the number of turnovers we committed during the first half; I can’t recall us ever having that many in just 20 minutes. Nonetheless, in the end, what matters most is the victory,” the Slovenian coach elaborated.

This triumph keeps Budućnost at the pinnacle of the ABA League alongside Partizan, and it also holds significance for the team dynamics leading into Wednesday’s crucial Eurocup clash.

“It’s essential to recover; mentally we were in Lithuania, but we must put that behind us and start focusing on Wolves,” Žakelj concluded.
