Juniors Reach Quarterfinals Despite Loss to Slovakia
The Montenegrin junior basketball team has successfully reached the quarterfinals of the European Championship B held in Romania. In a match played last night in Ploesti, Montenegro was narrowly defeated by Slovakia with a score of 75:68, finishing second in Group D.
Both Slovakia and Croatia ended with similar results, and the final quarter-final spots were determined by goal difference, which favored Slovakia, allowing them to secure the top position among the best eight teams.
Despite the loss to Slovakia, the Montenegrin team achieved victories against Croatia (85:80), Norway (92:73), and the Netherlands (80:76).
In the upcoming battle for a place in the semi-finals, the Montenegrin juniors will face off against the undefeated Estonia, the leaders of Group C, on Friday.
In the defeat to Slovakia, the standout player for Montenegro was Vladimir Komnenović, who scored 14 points, while Đorđe Đukanović added 12 points, and Đorđe Gulić contributed one point less.
