In the third match of the World Cup tournament held in Podgorica, the Spanish water polo squad showcased their talent and reaffirmed their status as favorites.

Led by David Martin, the team triumphed over Georgia with a score of 20:10, marking their third victory and ensuring their spot in the final tournament set for Los Angeles (June 30 – July 2).

During the first half, Spain dominated, netting 12 goals and seizing a commanding 12:3 lead after just 16 minutes, leaving no doubt about the outcome.

Alberto Munaris, Alberto Barroso, Sergio Cabanas, and Felipe Perone each contributed three goals for the Spanish team.

This defeat marks Georgia’s second loss, having previously fallen to Montenegro, though they managed to secure a victory over Australia.

The day’s highlight match between Serbia and Greece saw the latter take control, culminating in a decisive 16:14 win.

Greece held a 10:4 advantage midway through the third quarter, while Serbia attempted to close the gap to two points on several occasions, but failed to create a thrilling finish.

Strahinja Rašović led the Serbian team with five goals, while Dušan Mandić added four.

Montenegrin water polo players are set to compete on Saturday against Serbia in the third round (17:30).
