The Railway Infrastructure of Montenegro’s (ŽICG) Board of Directors has extended “unanimous support” to executive director Marina Bošković in her efforts to rectify the current situation and restore normal railway operations.
A group of ŽICG employees, comprising over 80 train dispatchers, remote control dispatchers (TC), and traffic dispatchers, have halted their work, effectively suspending train operations. They demand negotiations for a salary increase and will not resume work until the ŽICG management engages them. The suspension commenced today at 12:00 AM, with several train services expected to be affected at the Podgorica, Bar, and Bijelo Polje stations.
“In light of the extraordinary situation—a so-called ‘work stoppage’—the ŽICG Board of Directors convened an emergency meeting. During this meeting, full support was unanimously expressed for the executive director to address the situation and restore normal railway operations. It was emphasized that any salary increases must adhere to legal regulations and be negotiated with representative unions to establish a Collective Agreement,” the Board of Directors stated after their meeting.
The Board urged employees participating in the “work stoppage” to facilitate the resumption of regular train services, in order to mitigate further damage and foster a conducive environment for constructive dialogue.
Previously, Bošković stated that they are willing to engage in discussions with the train conductors who initiated the traffic suspension but will not entertain any form of blackmail.
